Peace Out 2022

It’s hard to believe 2022 has already come and gone.  I legitimately feel like I blinked and it’s winter again.  Now I know what you’re thinking – I live in Minnesota where it’s always winter.  False.  We really can have the most amazing spring, summer, and fall, we just don’t always get the amazing spring, summer, and fall.

So here we are in the final week of 2022.  The anticipation, excitement, and joy – followed by the clean up and exhaustion – that defines December is over, and we’re about to get a fresh start in 2023.  This is a week for reflection, and then setting intention for the year to come.

I thought it would be fun to reflect on my 2022 by revisiting my style this year.  I combed through my closet and pulled my favorite purchases (or gifts) and the items that got some serious mileage.  All-in-all, 22 items.  If I had to characterize my style for the year, I would use terms like “comfort” and “easy”.  Now that I’ve settled into 100% work-from-home, and my transition to the chauffer-mom lifestyle is complete, I tended toward clothes that were simple and versatile.  Even the flashier items were no fuss.

Keep scrolling to view my 2022 closet capsule.  Enjoy!  What were your favorite go-to outfits this year?

Zara Cargo Skirt

A new obsession. Cargo + a maxi, both of which are trending. This felt like a good option to dip my toe in the water. So far I've been pairing this with sweaters and sneakers.

SKIMS Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress

This dress truly is so soft and comfy. I'm too chicken to wear it on its own, but I've been styling it with sweaters and pretty much any shoe. The maxi part of the dress is incredibly flattering. Every time I wear it, I think of the bottom half of Morticia Addams' dress.

Sam Edelman Laurs Platform Lug Sole Loafer

These became an every day shoe for me - a chic option in between boots or sneakers and heels. Loafers have definitely surged in the last year or two. The chunkier sole gives the classic a bit more edge.

Zara Soft Oversized Knit Sweater

This sweater is a stand.out. Love it.

Viva Joya Resin Rings

These were a random find on Amazon. I was looking for some fun stocking stuffers for my daughter and voila, I came across these. I'm really liking the look of resin accessories right now. This set has all different colors, shapes and sizes, plus they're extremely affordable.

Zara Faux Leather Puffer Vest

Puffer vests are a required staple in Minnesota. The faux leather gives it a bit more chic.

Zara Mixed Straight Knit Dress

I have quickly become obsessed with this dress. Simple, but so flattering. The bandeau top is snug so I'm not yanking it up the entire time I wear it, and the skirt has a stiff billow to it. Plus... pockets.

Zara Alpaca and Wool Blend Sweater

I own this sweater in multiple colors. Soft and a barely oversized fit that I love, it hits me at just the right spot on my hips. This sweater gets mileage year round for me - I grab for it at least once a week.

Veja Esplar Logo

Just a classic white sneak.

MOTHER The Tomcat Ankle

These have become my every day jean. Stiff, but not too stiff, and a great wash and length.

Faherty Topsail Overall – Railroad Stripe

I get compliments on these every time I wear them. Super soft to touch and baggy in all the right places. This was in the regular rotation for me this summer and fall.

Evereve Milo Linen Rib Henley

A foundation piece for those of us in cold-weather states. Simple but fits so well and can stand on it's own or as a layer.

Everlane The Felted Merino Cardigan

I love the fit of this cardigan. I've always loved the look of cardigans, but they never looked quite right on me. Something with the shoulders. But this fits to the T, holds it's shape well, and is super cozy.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lined Leather

A fairly recent purchase. Leather and sherpa-lined classic Chucks. These have become a staple with everything from joggers to maxi skirts and dresses.

Aviator Nation Women’s Boyfriend Tee

This summer I was determined to find the perfect boxy tees. Flattering on the arms, just the right length, and high quality. This is 1-of-2 boxy tees included in this list.

Zara Block Heel High Heels

A little bit of a twist on the classic Mary Jane with the square toe and block heel. The double strap looks really pretty on the feet. And this pair is also really versatile - I've paired these with jeans, work wear, and date night outfits.

Du Paradis Wide-Leg Sateen Pants

I love love love these pants. The wide leg is on trend and the satin gives them a bit of lux. I wore these with boxy tees and flip flops on vacation in Mexico.

Mango High-Waist Palazzo Pant

Puddle pants are trending hard right now. These are beyond flattering. My favorite way to style these is with a simple fitted tank top and heels.

Mango Crystal Sling Back Shoes

They sparkle, so I had to have.

Jennifer Meyer Palm Tree Gold Necklace

A gift from my husband. This is my every day necklace. Dainty enough, but gets noticed quite often.

AYR The Sno Cone

2-of-2 boxy tees. I actually own this in multiple colors I love it so much. I wear one at least once a week, either on it's own or as a layer.

Farm Rio Rainbow Crochet Squares Shorts

Another item that I get compliments on consistently. Crochet has been really big for a bit and these were perfect for me to give the trend a try. So so so comfortable and flattering on the legs!
